“The joy of life consists in the exercise of one’s energies, continual growth, constant change, the enjoyment of every new experience.”
– Aleister Crowley, poet
In today’s meditation, I read the above quote. It was too align to the quest of seeking joy not to post here.
“…Find out where joy resides and give it a voice far beyond singing. For to miss the joy is to miss all.”– Robert Louis Stevenson
When we seek that which makes us smile, we find joy. When we give that which makes others smile, we share joy. When we pivot our perspective from one of lack to one of fullness, we are choosing joy. When we choose joy, we choose to live in a space of wholeness and from there are able to contribute joy to our world.
Joy is more than a feeling; it is an alignment with love. Love is the force that fuels the Law of Attraction. When you give it freely, you receive it graciously. When your fear clouds the joy, it eludes you. Joy is found in any and all authentic emotion – in our sorrow and happiness and fear and faith. Joy responds to love.
When we seek joy instead of fear we become stronger. Not because we are denying our awareness of the challenges in our lives but because we see them and still chose to be grateful. Joy does not mean happy. Joy is deliberate choice of positive perspective with honest recognition of struggle. Joy will lead to wholeness.
What is joy? According to the dictionary it is a noun meaning “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” Notice the smiles you receive today. From the child you got to wake up for school, to the spouse who made sure he saw you smile before he left, to the bus driver, the late co-worker, the neighbor walking his dog to the woman who sold you coffee. Count them. The more you look for smiles, the more you will see because smiles are contagious. And if you are smiling at the world, it will smile back at you.
