Leading Through Learning
“What I lived for now were the unrehearsed, unphotographed, in-between moments where nobody was performing and no one was judging and real surprise was still possible – where sometimes without warning you might feel a tiny latch spring open on your heart.”
-Michelle Obama in Becoming
How easily we take for granted the moments that provide spontaneous surprises! Those unplanned, unrehearsed, unpredictable snippets of joy that too frequently we miss if we aren’t paying attention.
My children remind me of this. Their innocence and ability to not look too far ahead or stare at what has passed are constant examples. Such a simple yet powerful reminder of the gift of the present.
