Leading Through Learning
“At this threshold a great complexity of emotion comes alive: confusion, fear, excitement, sadness, hope.”
Thresholds present themselves in our lives sometimes unexpectedly. The horror of George Floyd’s death has struck a chord deep within our country. When anger courses through our veins, what can we learn? What can we honor in that space?
Be angry. Be sad. Be confused. Be loud. Be responsible and responsive.
Only after we recognize and feel this sadness and anger can we move through the space. Avoiding the space makes the frustration grow. Denying ourselves the space to sit with the horror only prolongs the solution. Sometimes it is time to yell and scream. Sometimes the time is to listen and learn. Whichever we embrace, we must continue to move forward and find the passage through the threshold that leads to a better us.
